Studio OS vs Momence: an honest comparison for studio owners (2026)
Written by Nino, founder of Poletis
Momence packs an enormous amount into a low sticker price — scheduling, memberships, marketing, even native on-demand video — which is exactly why it’s popular. Studio OS covers the same studio essentials in one connected system, with member messaging that includes WhatsApp and AI, and without the transaction fees stacked on top. Here’s the honest breakdown, including the parts of Momence that show up most in reviews.
I build Studio OS, so I’m not a neutral party — and I won’t pretend otherwise. Momence is genuinely feature-rich for the money, and I’ll say where it’s the better pick. But if you’re shopping for a Momence alternative, you should leave this page knowing which one fits yourstudio — even if the answer isn’t mine.
What is Momence?
Momence is a modern, mobile-first all-in-one platform for boutique fitness, yoga, pilates, dance and wellness studios. It’s often chosen as a lower-cost Mindbody alternative because it does so much for the price: scheduling, memberships, retail, events, marketing, a native on-demand video library, and AI-assisted insights. Migrations from other platforms are fast and well-supported, and the customer-facing interface is genuinely polished. Since early 2025 it has been owned by Clubessential Holdings, a private-equity-backed group of fitness-software brands.
The catch is in two places. First, the real cost: the listed tiers are cheap, but card processing runs around 3.9% + $0.30 online with an extra platform fee on the lower tiers, so the effective monthly spend is higher than the sticker. Second, the experience: across Capterra and G2, owners’ most frequent complaints are support and reliability — slow, scripted support and bugs. Plenty of studios are happy on Momence; these are simply the recurring themes worth knowing.
What is Studio OS?
Studio OS runs a studio end to end in one connected system: scheduling and booking, payments, member management, your studio website, an on-demand video library, automated branded emails, WhatsApp, and a built-in AI assistant that can answer members’ questions. Payments run through Stripe with transparent processing and no extra Studio OS payment tax on top.
It’s in early access, which mostly works in your favour: the person who writes the code answers your email — not a scripted queue — and your requests genuinely shape the roadmap. Pricing is modular and transparent, there’s no contract, and you can test it for free while it matures.

Where Momence is the better choice
Plenty of studios should pick Momence, and I’d tell them so. Choose Momence if:
- You want maximum features at the lowest sticker price. Its breadth-for-the-money is real, and you can even start on a free tier.
- You want a proven product you can sign up for today with fast, well-supported migration from another platform.
- Transaction fees don’t bother you as long as the monthly fee stays low, and you want native video and AI insights in the box.
If that’s you, Momence is a lot of platform for the money and you’ll get value from it. No hard feelings.
Where Studio OS is different
Studio OS trades a bit of raw feature count for a calmer, more connected experience and clearer costs. Consider it if:
- You don’t want a payment tax on every sale. Studio OS uses Stripe with transparent processing and doesn’t add its own platform fee on top of card costs.
- You want WhatsApp and a real AI assistant. Member messaging on WhatsApp and an assistant that answers routine questions are built in.
- You want support from the maker. Instead of a scripted queue, the person who writes the code answers you directly — and your feedback moves the product.
- You want your website in the same system. Your studio site is part of Studio OS, alongside the on-demand video library both tools share.
Pricing: Momence vs Studio OS
At the time of writing, Momence lists tiers around $0, $60 and $199 per month, but the real cost is driven by payment processing — roughly 3.9% + $0.30 online, with an added platform fee on the lower tiers that the top tier waives. Run your actual monthly card volume through those rates before comparing the sticker prices.
Studio OS starts from $39/mo, with an all-in bundle around $139/mo, and is modular — you turn on the parts you need. Payments run through Stripe with transparent processing and no extra Studio OS payment tax. There’s no contract and no sales call. During early access, studios that join can test it for free while it matures; you start by getting in touch.
So who should choose which?
If you want the most features for the lowest monthly fee and the transaction costs don’t bother you, pick Momence — it’s a lot of platform for the money. If you want clearer total costs, WhatsApp and AI in your messaging, support from the maker, and one connected system with your website included — and you don’t mind being early — Studio OS is built for you.
If clearer costs and one connected system sound like what you’ve been missing, the fastest way to see whether Studio OS fits is to ask for early access— testing is free for early studios, and you’ll be talking to me, not a sales team.
