Studio OS vs Arketa: an honest comparison for studio owners (2026)

Written by Nino, founder of Poletis

Arketa and Studio OS are the two most alike on this list — both modern, both genuinely all-in-one, both with a native on-demand video library. The honest differences come down to two things: what Arketa adds on top of your payments, and what Studio OS adds to your member messaging. Here’s the breakdown.

I build Studio OS, so I’m not a neutral party — and I won’t pretend otherwise. Arketa is a sharp, modern product, and I’ll say where it’s the better pick. But if you’re shopping for an Arketa alternative, you should leave this page knowing which one fits yourstudio — even if the answer isn’t mine.

What is Arketa?

Arketa is a modern, content-first platform for wellness and fitness — a strong fit for yoga and pilates studios, solo instructors, and “digital studios” built around selling on-demand classes. Its UX is widely praised over older incumbents, and it bakes a real on-demand video library, a branded app, and AI-assisted email and SEO into the product. If your business is content-led, it’s built for you.

Two things to weigh. First, payments: on individual plans Arketa adds its own platform fee of about 3% on top of Stripe’s 2.9% + $0.30, so you’re paying close to 6% per transaction before you start. Second, the experience: Arketa’s reviews are polarized — alongside praise for the modern feel, recent reviewers report bugs and instability, features that were over-promised, and slow support. Many studios love it; those are the recurring cautions.

What is Studio OS?

Studio OS runs a studio end to end in one connected system: scheduling and booking, payments, member management, your studio website, an on-demand video library, automated branded emails, WhatsApp, and a built-in AI assistant that can answer members’ questions. Like Arketa, video is native — but payments run through Stripe with transparent processing and no extra Studio OS platform fee on top.

It’s in early access, which mostly works in your favour: the person who writes the code answers your email, and your requests genuinely shape the roadmap. Pricing is modular and transparent, there’s no contract, and you can test it for free while it matures.

The short version, side by side. Details and the “who should pick which” call are below the table.

Where Arketa is the better choice

Plenty of studios should pick Arketa, and I’d tell them so. Choose Arketa if:

  • Your business is content-led. If on-demand video and a digital-studio model are central, Arketa is purpose-built for that and does it well across every tier.
  • You want a proven, modern product you can start today. Public individual pricing and a free trial let you sign up without a conversation.
  • You want a branded app and AI marketing toolsout of the box and don’t mind the platform fee on payments.

If that’s you, Arketa is a strong, modern choice and you’ll get value from it. No hard feelings.

Where Studio OS is different

Since both are modern all-in-ones with native video, the differences are specific. Consider Studio OS if:

  • You don’t want a platform fee on top of Stripe. Studio OS uses transparent Stripe processing without adding its own ~3% — which adds up fast on a busy studio’s card volume.
  • You want WhatsApp and an AI assistant for members. Not just AI that drafts your marketing emails — messaging members on WhatsApp and an assistant that answers their questions are built in.
  • You want a direct line to the maker. The person who writes the code answers your email, and in early access your feedback actually moves the product.
  • You want your website in the same system from the start, not gated to the top individual tier.

Pricing: Arketa vs Studio OS

At the time of writing, Arketa’s individual tiers run around $49, $83 and $124 per month, with studio tiers quoted through a sales call, and a 14-day free trial. The detail that matters most is the ~3% platform fee Arketa adds on top of Stripe’s 2.9% + $0.30 on individual plans — factor that into your real per-sale cost before comparing.

Studio OS starts from $39/mo, with an all-in bundle around $139/mo, and is modular — you turn on the parts you need. Payments run through Stripe with transparent processing and no extra Studio OS platform fee. There’s no contract and no sales call. During early access, studios that join can test it for free while it matures; you start by getting in touch.

So who should choose which?

If your studio is content-led, you want a proven modern product today, and the payment platform fee doesn’t bother you, pick Arketa — it’s excellent at what it’s for. If you want the same modern, all-in-one feel without a fee on top of payments, with WhatsApp and an AI assistant for members and a direct line to the maker — and you don’t mind being early — Studio OS is built for you.

If a modern all-in-one without a payment tax sounds like what you’ve been missing, the fastest way to see whether Studio OS fits is to ask for early access— testing is free for early studios, and you’ll be talking to me, not a sales team.
